How your publication is discoverable

When your electronic publication is accepted through NED deposit processes a catalogue record (information describing your publication) will be discoverable in Trove, the national discovery service. The Trove record will also provide information about how your publication can be viewed. This will be dependent on the access condition that you have assigned to your publication – see Access Conditions.

A catalogue record will also be available in the National Library of Australia catalogue and may also be available in applicable state/territory library catalogues. Through data exchange and/or website indexing processes, the catalogue record for your publication may also be discoverable in services like WorldCat https://www.worldcat.org/ and search engines such as Google, Bing, etc. The NED member libraries have no influence over how your publication will be ranked by external search engines.

How do I find my publication in Trove?

You can view the Trove record for your publication by logging into NED and clicking on Manage my account.

You will then have two options:

NED Collection Feature in Trove

As part of NED’s 5th birthday celebrations in 2024, this significant national collection was made easier to discover with the release of the NED Collection feature in Trove.

Collection features highlight special collections within Trove. National edeposit: Collecting Australia's electronic publications brings together everything that has been deposited into NED into one web page for you to explore. The 'Explore' tab is a way of browsing the collection by subjects added by cataloguers, and tags added by the people using Trove. Selecting any of the words in the word cloud will limit the results to that subject or tag. The 'Search' tab can be used to keyword search the NED collection.
