National edeposit has been developed to ensure its content is available to the widest possible audience, including users of assistive technology or accessibility features, and strives to maintain compliance with W3C’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.
The current exception to this level of accessibility applies to content lodged with National edeposit where publishers have nominated “onsite only” access, meaning the material can only be viewed through a secure browser onsite at the National Library of Australia or a state or territory library. We regret that the technology required to ensure security of this material at an appropriate level prohibits features required to enlarge or adjust text on-screen.
Feasibility of a technical solution to this issue is being investigated. Users of National edeposit who are blind, visually impaired or otherwise print disabled and wish to access “onsite only” material are asked to contact firstname.lastname@example.org or their member library to be provided with an accessible copy.
