Create an account
If you are likely to be depositing more than one publication or a serial publication (such as a newsletter, magazine, or annual report), or depositing regularly, you should create an account in NED. This will allow you to set up your default publisher details, and access agreement and your deposit history is kept in a single location under a single publisher name. You can override or set new defaults as needed.
You can create a publisher account before you deposit a publication or during the deposit process.
How do I create an account?
You will find the option to create an account on the NED website:

The details you will need to provide include:
Publisher details:
These details relate to the entity responsible for the publication. It can be your business, the community organisation you are involved with, yourself if you are a self-published author.
- Publisher name
- Publisher type
- Address – street or PO Box (optional)
- City/Town/Suburb
- Country
- State/Territory (if you choose Australia as the Country)
- Postcode (optional)
User account details:
- Your name
- Phone (optional)
- Username
Hints & Tips:
- Once set, the Username cannot be changed, so keep it generic - however we are able to alter the contact name (the Your name field) and email if required.
- If your organisation has a generic email address for communication, consider using this email rather than staff email addresses.
- If you are a self-publisher using an online publication platform such as Amazon, Publish Central etc. – please list your own (or your pseudonym or pen name if required) as the Publisher name.
- If using a pseudonym or pen name, use your actual/real name in the Your Name field. This is required to enable legal deposit communications with publishers and for the purpose of managing the joint digital collection and does not display to the public.
When you complete the registration, an email will be sent for you to verify/activate your account and set up your password – if you do not receive a verification email, please first check your junk folder – if it has not been received, please contact your member library.
Once your password has been created, you will be able to login to the NED online portal to deposit your publication/s.
We have several members of staff who deposit our publications - what is the best way to manage this?
New user accounts can be added to your publisher record on request. This way you can always view and run reports on the entire deposit history and identify which of your staff members made which deposits. If further logins are required, please contact your member library who will forward an invite to create a new user account – each login requires a different email.
